I am receiving my first nuc shortly and wondering if I can treat for mites while the bees are in the nuc or should I wait and do a count first. Or is it possible that I should I place them in the hive and dribble.
Donna,
For the nuc, I would let it get stronger. Once you have 3 or 4 full frames with brood -do a wash, and then treat accordingly. I would expect that you have some mite loads but its best practice check regularly - and treat as needed. /Kurt
What is the recommended mite treatment for the nuc? Is it too late for oxalic drip? Should you use mite strips? If so, which product? And, don't you need to be careful about the strips when you have honey supers?
